Circumcision: Our experience in UK.

Salam to all

This entry will briefly talk abt the circumcision, emphasizing the procedure starting from the first step until u get it done. The idea to share this because many parents asked us about this since definitely it is different from our country yet it's not impossible to do it here.

My boys are 10 and 9 yrs old respectively, we thought that it would be better for them and for us if they could do the process here. After asking people who had experienced on this matter, we decided to start the application a few weeks before summer holiday this year.

Basically, what parents need to do are:

1. Making an appointment with GP concerning the application.

2. GP will write a letter to the Registrar, Children Hospital regarding this matter.

3. In the mean time, all we need to do is waiting for the letter from the Children Hosptal.

4. The letter will state an appointment date to bring the child/children to undergo a physical check. to make sure everything is okay to proceed.

5. During the appointment, the surgeon will discuss abt the convinience date to undergo the surgery. Parent may also want to have a clear explanation about how they make it and everything about the surgery.

6. On the surgery day, the child/children will need to fasting starting from 7.30am. The surgery only sarts at 1.30 pm but then you will need to bring the children to the hospital (day-patient) at least 4 hrs before the operation.

Dont worry about the length and long wait for parent and the children will be staying in a waiting
room which is perfectly equipped with what our children looking for..! In our case, we had already get ready with 'special surprised' for them (to keep them busy) and as the result they were being soooo good we felt so proud:>!! No complaints at all.

Sedang busy exploring new gadget sementara di bilik menunggu 12tghr -4pm.

The reason why the hospital asked us to come earlier is to ensure the children is fasting and not taking any food few hrs before they walk into the theatre. However they are allowed to drink before 11.30am. Prior to the surgery children will be given general anaesthatic so we do understand this rule really well.

Other than that, I believe that we know how fantastic the hospital service. All we need to do, i think, is to make sure our children are in a very good mood on that day and will not making trouble especially during waiting for their name to be called. In short, try your best not to ruin the day.

The surgery takes about 30mins, and they will be waken up once it has finished. Of course, they will complaint about terrible pain so just calm them down. Ahhaaa dun forget to feed them afterwards, tentula lapar kan. If the pain is sooo terrible the nurse will give the children medicine/painkiller. In our case,. 1.5 hrs after surgery tu dah discharge. Jalan kaki lagi about 10min to main door.

Dapat Brave Award slps kuar dari operation teater :))

Stating : ''This is to certify 'Khairie @ Azraie' was being very brave whilst in the theatre and recovery.''

Duration to fully healing may differ from one another. My boys took abt 8days for the cut to dry and get used to theirs new shape.
Well, you know your children better, so actions taken (berpantang ker apa..) is totally depend on you n ur child. My boys took painkiller until 4 days to keep them comfortable.

From our experience, we would say that we'r definitely satisfy with the procedure from the beginning. Eventho this is our first (and final) experience, but Alhamdulillah everything went well and other than that; i 'd say it is just about time. Pray to Allah everytime after solat. Doakan agar anak2 tenang, dan ayahmamanya juga tenang. Hehe..risau gak actually, tp tetapkan hati jer. Ini satu kewajipan yg mesti ditunaikan utk anak2 lelaki. Not denying we were a bit worry since doing this abroad kan, but we always believe in ''mengambil peluang di sebalik kesulitan''. dlm hal ini absolutely worth doing it. Tawakkal!!

That's all friends. hope this is note would help..

Till we meet again..see you soon very2 soon.

  2. Ya Su. Full GA. standard la kan UK ni, diorg concern sgt ngan budak. even cabut gigi sebtg pon boleh dpt GA(bg yg fobia ngan jarum).
Lps siap doc kejutkan dan sorong ke ward.
Mmg sgt lega dan bersyukur sgt2 krn Allah memudahkan semuanya. Satu t/jwb dah selesai. Dan sama spt parents yg lain; kami kena kerja lbh keras lg utk 'equip' diorg dgn elemen2 insaniah yg lainnya.
